Specialized Compound and Tread
Winter tires use a softer rubber compound than all-season or summer tires, allowing them to retain their shape in temperatures below 7°C. On top of that, winter tires push away snow and grip ice with their deep, aggressive tread, helping you stay on course when the roads get slippery. In contrast, summer tires can’t withstand temperatures that low and excel instead on dry or rainy roads, meaning they’re no match for intense Canadian winters. All-season tires are good all-rounders, but if you opt for these over a specialized winter set, make sure they’re rated with a snowflake symbol to ensure you stay safe and in control of your vehicle.
